Abstract:

This paper reports on the fabrication and characterization of carbon allotrope-ZnO nanocomposite thin films deposited by low-temperature spray pyrolysis for applications in electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and conductive coatings. Three types of carbon nanomaterials—carbon nano-onions (CNOs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and graphene nanoplatelets-were embedded into ZnO matrices and deposited on glass substrates. Structural and morphological characterizations confirm the successful incorporation and preservation of the crystalline and graphitic features of both ZnO and carbon phases, as evidenced by XRD and Raman spectroscopy. Electrical measurements reveal a significant increase in conductivity for CNOs/ZnO and GNPs/ZnO composites.
